New likes and share buttons designs are the latest developments from Facebook. The redesign of new buttons somewhat ease the process of displaying. According to the Facebook developer’s blog, the new update will be rolled out to everyone soon and also the users of current like button will be automatically updated.
The current buttons were introduced back in 2010 for the first time to everyone. The Like and Share buttons are viewed over 22 billion times each day contributing to a ton of referral traffic on over 7.5 million websites as per the blog statement . Before this update, Facebook never officially supported the share button option and it was originally featured by most of the third party applications. Now Facebook finally introducing new design for the like & share buttons which will roll out in coming weeks.
According to the Facebook developer blog announcement here.
“Today, we’re introducing a new design for both Like and Share to help people share more great content across the web. We’re already seeing a favorable increase in Likes and Shares with the new design and will be rolling these buttons out to everyone in the coming weeks. If you are currently using the old Like button, you’ll be automatically upgraded to the new design as part of our roll out. We’ve also made it easy for you to include the Like and Share buttons side by side and the Share button by itself”
From Blog’s Point of View:
The new single click like button lets users to like anything by performing one-click action only while the share button lets users to add a more personalized message when sharing from the blog. It will definitely increase the chances of anything going viral as sharing something with current like action doesn’t go on the users timeline but shows in the news feed in a separate like section on the side-bar. In that case, Most of us will agree that sharing a blog post with customize options has higher chances of reaching out to the audience as it will be appearing on the users timeline, friend’s timeline, in a group or any page you manage. So compare to the like action share button could potentially boost referral visits from your blog.
Strategic placement of social sharing buttons encourage your visitors to share any like-able/share-able content from your blog easily. It is highly crucial for blogger’s to place these buttons near your important content area as also explained by Head of Product Nico Pitney at Huffington Post’s:
We place the Like and Share buttons right below the headline of our articles and in a persistent left side bar that stays with the user when they scroll down the page. We want to give people every opportunity to like and share content, and, at this point, I like to think we’ve made it hard not to engage in social actions.
